Just finished what appears on paper as a GREAT system:
Asus Z270F, i7 7700k, 16BG Patriot viper PC4-27200 4x4GB, Asus GTX1060 OC 3GB
2x Samsung SM691 M.2 SSD's in RAID 0, Corsair AX860i PSU, Zalman CNPS20LQ water cooler, open case design for free airflow.
Installed Win 10 pro as UEFI on the GPT (not MBR) RAID drive. Installed Asus drivers from Asus website not the MB CD. Updated BIOS firmware. Updated Win from MS. Updated all other drivers to latest versions.
My accessories hardware has not changed from previous build, Asus P8Z77v Deluxe, i7 3770, 16GB Kingston Hyper X 2400, Asus GTX 660ti.
Now the problems. This new MB seem to POST slowly, as compare to my previous MB that I also thought seemed to POST slow. So this delay seems even longer now. Almost 30 seconds before the Windows circle of dots appear. The MB is set for Fast Boot.
Then in windows, programs seem to install slower. Most programs load slower. I am using BootRacer to test boot times (I had this on my old system too). They seem to range from 190 to 240 seconds. My past system was generally under 80 seconds. I have only installed the same basic programs I had on the older system.
Internet use is feels off too. First off FF & Chrome programs seem to load slower. Pages load ok, but video play back is jittery, and buffers often (checked many sites, all about the same). After a buffering, video plays fast forward until it catches up.
Even windows programs itself items seem to start slowly; Settings, Device Mgr, Network Management. I see the windows blue delay wheel for several seconds while these load. Disk Management takes a good 45 seconds to appear.
I'm at a loss to figure this out. How can a fresh install on this hardware feel slow? I tested the raid drive speed and sequential reads were over 3200Mb/s !! The other tests were also nearly as impressive. The CPU is never taxed. It barely get to 50% on any core during boot, and not over 3% when idle or checking email, or facebook.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
