Getting bad FPS

I am basing this off the game Paladins on max settings as this is the game I am playing currently.

Specs:
GTX 1050 TI
AMD 7650K Quad core
Corsair 550W 80Bronze rated PSU
Windows 10
MOBO: Gigabyte f2a68hm-hd2
PSU: Corsair 550W VS550

I am playing 1920x1080p with everything maxed out, with V-Sync on I was getting a constant 60 FPS then for no reason I started getting drops into the 30's sometimes even dipping to 20 FPS, I have updated my drivers and that has had no effect, I have set prefer high performance in Nvidia control panel as well as selecting high performance in the power settings for windows, neither made a difference.

With no load at all it is around 28C and while playing it is at 40C

I have added to the main post with MOBO and power supply info

Don't have the money, don't have the time. I also said it was fine before with this CPU, I intend to get an intel at some point but now it isn't possible.

All the newer Nvidia drivers from version 375.xx up have been causing a host of problems. Problems such as locking video memory on low to full on crashing the OS. I would suggest you uninstall nvidia in control panel then use DDU to remove all configs. Problem is the the 1050ti came out on version 375.63 where I've been telling 1060 owners to get 373.06. You could still try uninstall and used DDU but get the newest drivers and hope it fixes the issue. I also linked the driver archive so you can try other versions. Its may be possible to get 373.06 to work with the 1050ti as it must have been used for beta testing the card.

So a PSU can effect FPS? And how is it no suited if I can ask? Has worked fine with no issues up till now.

So you are saying I should uninstall the latest drivers and try 373.06?

I have done this, the FPS is now not dropping into the 40's however it does sometimes dip below 60 and hit 50(s) which it never did before, any ideas?

If you have v-sync on, and your monitor operates at 60hz refresh rate, then as long as your game framerate is 60fps or higher you will have no problems. When your game framerate drops below 60fps, then due to the way v-sync works, your actual framerate will be half.

Example: If your framerate drops to 54fps, and you have v-sync on, so you will see 27fps(half of 54). This is why you want v-sync off if you can't keep your framerate above 60fps at all times. Adaptive sync technology, like gsync or freesync, addresses this issue but you need a compatible monitor and videocard to use those.

I will keep V-Sync off then thank you, however it used to be constant 60 so I am not sure why it's not anymore

To get back to your question from earlier, the Corsair VS series is known for causing lots of problems. It's not meant for continuous load.

Some of the issues I've seen with the unit:
1) It can't deliver its advertised wattage.
2) When they fail (and they fail pretty often), they often release a surge through the system and destroy sensitive components like motherboards and graphics cards.

Looking at about £70 in total, will have to wait for a bit to get that, any ideas as to why my FPS is still getting drops?

meh. i have a several 5 to 7 year old plus vs450s running at least 8 hours a day in my netcafe, still works fine. i have yet to experience a fail/failing corsair psu, hell even my 10 year old VX450 is still powering a am3x3 rig.

OP can you show us some temp readings?

EDIT: some actual temp readings from like afterburner or similar softwares.

I will give this a go and edit this post as to what happens. However I don't see why I would need to disable all these things now it was fine before without them disabled I'm not sure what changed

i'm looking for possible fluctuations of not only the temperature but the other components as well. when you get back, try to play some games and when the dips starts to show up alt tab immediately then go the graphs section and take a screenshot.

also, can you mention the game that you're playing? and the others are right. recent nvidia drivers are quite BAD. i'm scratching my head since the last 3 driver updates as to why my gtx1060 3gb cannot hold Dota2 at 75fps constant when my old gtx960 can.

It was fine on the last driver update and it dropped so I updated to the latest driver version so I'm not sure what that's about. I mentioned in the opening paragraph that I am playing paladins which shouldn't graphically be an issue. I will go play for a bit now and grab some screen shots and see what happens
