Will different gen's cpu and motherboard match and run?

Solution
They are a match... presuming the motherboard has the most up to date bios.

Given that kabylake was released so recently - old stock of skylake motherboards will not be up to date.

The problem is - if your H110 is from older stock, it won't have the update. And you can't apply the update without a working CPU. So you'd have to source a skylake processor, update the motherboard, then install your kaby lake processor. (a huge pain)

To be safe you should get a 2xx series board, or a skylake processor.
