Hi all,

I'm about to build a system this evening using an MSI Gaming Z270 M5 and an i7 7700k. To cool it (at least for now) I'm going to install a Hyper 212. I was hoping to do very slight overclocking but am fine running it at stock clocks. I'm concerned because after a little research i've discovered on several forums where people with a similar (and same exact) builds are complaining about very high temps on the CPU with this set up. Should I be concerned and order a water-cooled unit before building?

Solution
My temps on prime95 at 4.8ghz with 1.340 volts on a H115i are right at 80c. Under CPUz load, I only hit 66.
The voltage will fluctuate even on manual, it looks like. My bios is set at 1.340 for reference though.

If you're going air, or just want the price of air cooling, get a NH-D15 noctua air cooler. It works on par with the top 5 rated water cooler closed loop systems retailed. You can also, if you want, look at the top 5 water cooled loops for comparison all around. It's a fair review of all 6 coolers even though it's supposed to target the NH-D15.

See temp below on a H115i...

This.. Kaby Lake really is too warm for a CM Hyper 212.

You'll either need to step up your cooling or delid and void your warranty.
