Hi,

I'm planning to build a NAS using Freenas. I understand that their hardware recommendations tends to go with Intel products. However, I've read in this thread that AMD is supported and also I'm on a tight budget (probably around 150 - 200 USD for the motherboard (mini-ITX) and processor. And this will be used mainly for documents and media storage plus Plex Media Server and Transmission. Redundancy not required in my setup.

Here's what I have so far:

[strike]AMD FM2+ A8-7600 (3.1GHZ): $75 [/strike]
[strike]ASRock FM2A75M-ITX: $77[/strike]
[strike]Gigabyte GA-F2A88XN-WIFI: $97[/strike]

[strike]I chose to use AMD because their cheaper. I don't mind going Intel as long as it's within the budget.[/strike]

UPDATE 1: Removed Gigabyte GA-F2A88XN-WIFI and replaced it with ASRock FM2A75M-ITX as advised. I was able to save $20.

UPDATE 2: Found a cheaper set using Intel Pentium instead.

Intel Pentium G4560 3.5 ghz dual core $58
GA-H110N $80

The Pentium G4560 seems to have a better passmark score compared to the AMD A8-7600 so I would think it might be better to use this instead. The only concern I have with GA-H110N is that it only have 3 SATA ports. I was hoping to get at least 4.

Appreciate any feedback and comments.
