i have been willing to buy a gtx 1060 because my 960 keeps on overheating and 1060 is on sale right now so i was thinking maybe i should get a gtx 1060 so i can run all my games without any lag (constant 60 fps) with ultra/highest graphics but my brother keeps saying my motherboard and processor is too old to be able to handle a gtx 1060 so it will clock down to the power of a 970 so i have been losing thought about a 1060 and just going for a 970 but then a friend of mine suggested looking up on the internet because im stoopid so i googled if my processor is compatible and will not bottleneck a 1060 but it only gives me non K and my brother says if i want to get a 1060 i would need to get a new motherboard, processor and ramso thats why im asking you this question if any of my components will work without problems and without getting bottlenecked.

Yeah basically the same, just lower base clock. You should still be able to do the "limited" overclock of an extra 4 on the multiplyer, giving you around 4.0ghz turbo boost.
