Is it okay to install Windows again on a new SSD and forget the old SSD with Windows installed?

Recently, I just bought my new Samsung 500GB SSD to upgrade my current 128 GB SSD. Though I'm kind of curious if I could just install Windows again but on my new SSD and forget the old one. I feel like it's kinda a silly question and I know I will start from scratch, but is it even possible to do that? I really don't want to go through all the hassle using OS and data transfer programs but if this is the only choice I have I would still do it anyways.
Also, if it's possible to install Windows again, would you recommend this over other methods such as using data and OS transfer programs?
How many times can I install Windows on a PC? (I have my own product key and everything and I'm currently using Windows 8.1 64 bit)

Hi there,

You can install your windows as many times as you want, I you got a new SSD drive the best way for me to do it is installing the new system on the new SSD, after that is done you can format the old SSD and use it as a storage drive.

Of course you have some software out there that allows you to make a mirror of the current OS and transfer it to the new one, Is not something I will recommend anyway.

I know it is a bit annoying but make a clean install of your system.

I think you can install your Windows on your new SSD as you have to buy a new copy of windows from microsoft if you upgrade your motherboard. But in your case you are not doing so. You can freely go for it. Install the windows and leave your first SSD as it is :)

Thank you! Though, one question, I forgot to say that I also have an 2TB HDD installed, what happens when I plug it back in with the new SSD as well? Will it corrupt my files? There is nothing highly important rather than games, though, but I don't want my HDD to be unusable.

Your HDD will be just fine, is there is any OS installed during boot you will have a screen to select wish OS you want to boot, the games installed probably won’t work so my recommendations is, save all the important data to an external storage and format that drive and use it as a mass storage drive
