I'm having a problem when installing new RAM -

Previous RAM: 2 x Corsair Vengeance 4GB DDR3 2133mhz (Yes, I did remove this before installing new RAM)
Problematic RAM: 2 x Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 2400mhz

Motherboard: Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z which supports 2400mhz O.C.

The problem:

I previously ordered this RAM and had to send it back because it would make my PC freeze when logging into Windows. Tried it in the 4 different slots, 1 at a time, black, red etc. They then sent me out another set of RAM because we came to the conclusion that the RAM was faulty. So, yesterday I proceeded to install the new RAM, had an issue with freezing again so tried it in different slot, came to the conclusion one of the black RAM slots is duff and everything was dandy. Then I tried playing OW and it kept crashing, then the blue screens started appearing with errors such as kernel mode trap and driver irql not less or equal.

I basically have absolutely no clue what could be wrong with the RAM, however I did notice that when I went into my BIOS that at one point it was only registering 1 stick of RAM but it wasn't doing that last night. It's all very confusing and annoying, I'm pretty sure I'm past the point of returning the RAM now anyway but I'm getting my suspicions it's not actually the RAM's fault. Does anyone have any solutions for me?

Update:

Just to clarify I tried the new RAM in both sets of slots, the black didn't work, the red did work, then only 1 side of the red was registering. However, it registers both of my sticks of 4GB ram.

" Tried it in the 4 different slots, 1 at a time, black, red etc." - we have tried this already.
