I bought a Samsung 850 Evo 500gb for my PC, and it is not showing up in windows. In my bios, it shows up, however. If I open disk management it says I must initialize the new disk. My issue is that I plan to use the SSD to install MacOS and have that be a completely separate OS on that disk and to have windows on my main disks. Should I initialize it in Windows if I'm going to install MacOS on it?

Thanks

Hey there, Percy888.

Initializing the drive via Windows shouldn't cause any issues. This just sets the partition table. Go ahead and initialize it (I recommend GPT). Just don't format the drive with a specific file system. Leave it empty as unallocated space (with no partitions).

Hope that helps.
