I Have i3 and gtx 960 amp 2gb

so my bday is coming but do i need i5 6600k or gtx 1060 cuz i cant buy both so tell me i have 1080p

i want gtx 1060 but in other way i want i5 6600k just tell me what do i get

They would help in different places. The 1060 will allow you to run higher graphical settings, whereas the i5 will provide higher framerates when in CPU-limited situations.

For the vast majority of games, get the 1060. You will get higher FPS than just going with a 6600k.

However, you will still get some bottlenecking in CPU demanding areas, so eventually a 6600k/7600k is a good upgrade still.

Overall 6600K would be bigger upgrade then 1060. Note that your motherboard will not let you overclock it.
If you would choose to upgrade GPU, make sure you get 6Gb version.

6 GB costs more, but also performs better. 3Gb version would not a big upgrade over 960 you have, not worth the money IMO.

Get the 6GB for sure. If not, just go to a 4GB RX 480.

The 3GB is ok for 1080P, but if you want your card to last more than a year, I suggest you get the 6GB card.

Also keep in mind that if the computer is used for more than just gaming, the CPU will be of much more benefit than the GPU.

Other things to consider gaming wise is the amount of RAM and type of storage. Switching from a platter to a SSD will definitely help with load times, and 8gb or more of RAM will help prevent memory paging.

Yes, computers can be used for more than just gaming. But for very casual stuff, a core i3 is still a great CPU for non gaming tasks. Unless he's video editing, which I'm assuming he's not.
