Is RAM module incompatible with MoBo

Hello All,

I am using Kingston HyperX Fury RAM module on Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 MoBo. I had a long running issue that the PC reboots while playing heavy games (exact reason still unknown). So when I checked the www.userbenchmark.com and input my specs, it showed RAM as incompatible with my MoBo. There had been no notable issues after I have used this RAM unless I play games. And issue is not happening with all games. I was able to play NFS Rivals, Metal Gear Solid all just fine. Issue recently noted with Rise of Tomb Raider, AC Unity etc.

I have checked using the Cpuz, HWInfo etc and no notable issues found. I run the game and check these status side by side. While I check and confirm all are running normally, poof. It reboots. No Blue screen nothing. Just reboots. I have recently upgraded the PSU too (earlier it was around 400 and now to Cooler Master 600W). I would love to have a upgrade of my specs if that will fix the problem. I have upgraded everything except the MoBo and AMD processor (saving them for last since they are costly to replace).

As far as I have checked, this MoBo does support 1800Mhz RAM modules. I have tried reducing it to 1600 and 1333, still issue occurs. Also changed to single RAM and no change. Tried replacing RAM module with an old Kingston 1333Mhz 8GB RAM. Unfortunately it also causes the problem. :(

I would love to hear if there is any suggestions to solve or atleast check what is causing this issue.

Specs:

AMD FX-6300 not Overclocked
Asus M5A78L USB3 MoBo
Kingston HyperX 16GB 1800Mhz DDR3 (8x2)
Asus Strix GTX 970 4GB
CM 212 Evo cooler
CM 600w PSU
CM Master Case 5 cabinet
2 Sata HDDs

I doubt the memory is incompatible Surfermj.

If the board states it can run memory at, or up to 1800Mhz.

First of all make sure Xmp mode is enabled in the bios settings of the motherboard.
Next look for a setting to do with the type of memory used.

If you have an option in the bios setup to enable ECC memory mode make sure the setting is set to disabled.

Or it will be the cause of the system and why it is resetting on you.

Check that the timing values quoted on the sticker of the memory are the same as what the bios has setup and detected via the Xmp programmed memory profile.

And that the voltage of the memory sticks have also been set right.
You may have to be in advanced bios mode settings and options to see all of the features talked about above Surfermj

With the voltage settings of the memory you can always try to increase the voltage fed to the memory sticks by 0.500Mv.
In some cases just adding that extra 500Mv is enough to stabilize the memory stopping the system from resetting on you while playing games, the more work, or task intensive duty the memory is asked to perform will require it need more voltage to keep stable, and is a good indicator as to why the reset of the system happens when playing a game title on the system Surfermj, does that make sense to you ?
Give it a try, plus all the other things you need to check in this Typo.

Thank you for the suggestions @Shaun o @slyverine

I checked them and cant find Xmp profile option in BIOS (Mayb looking at wrong options).
Did found the ECC mode and it was disabled already.
Latency values also seems to be set correctly as provided for the module.
I manually changed the fq to 1867 in BIOS and also changed voltage to 1.56V. Both were set to Auto before.
Will try testing some games to check if there is any change.

Me too had this doubt. I changed the PSU to check this. Added 600W Cooler Master. Upon checking the wattage required for the specs this seemed enough (I guess so).

HWinfo doesnt showed anything suspicious also while I was running the games which causes the issue.

Pic shows the CPU Voltage as listed in BIOS. Please check if these pose any problems to my issue.

I am planning a upgrade to Intel i7 and compatible MoBo. It would be helpful to find out the exact cause if possible so that I wont run into problems after the upgrade
