Hello.

I have a PC with a very big ugly tower that has a lot of wasted space inside because I have a micro atx motherboard, a single hard drive and a low profile GPU.
I want to make it smaller so I'm gonna make a case from scratch with my own design to fit everything snuggly.

I thought of buying an SFX PSU to make the case as small as possible but the parts selection in my country is very poor and the only small power supply present in a local parts shop is 300w TFX unit from Seasonic (SS-300TFX to be exact) so I want to know if that will be able to power my little potato.

It has following specs:
CPU: i3 4170
GPU: MSI GTX 750Ti Low profile
Motherboard: MSI H81M-P33
RAM: two DDR3 sticks 4GB each
Storage: a single 3.5 inch hard drive

Thanks in advance for any advice and sorry if this question has already been asked before..

Solution

Here are my thoughts:

CPU: i3 4170 --> 54W (Max TDP)
GPU: MSI GTX 750Ti Low profile --> 60W (Max TDP)
Motherboard: MSI H81M-P33 --> Minimal
RAM: two DDR3 sticks 4GB each --> 3W x 2 sticks = 6W (Max TDP w/ Headroom)
Storage: a single 3.5 inch hard drive --> 10W (Max TDP w/ Headroom)
TOTAL = 130W TDP (Max w/ Headroom)

So, with your current system, at 100% load (which does not happen 24/7), you'll only be consuming 130W of power maximum. Depending on your daily usage and other components you wish to add in your rig, I would think, on the average, the power consumption would be around 100W-ish or less.

Now for your preferred PSU, the Seasonic SS-300 TFX, it is still not included in the oftenly-referenced PSU Tier List. However, a detailed review from Jonnyguru scored it at 8.5, which can place it at the mid-upper tier in terms of PSU quality, reliability, and safety.

The SS-300 TFX is a Bronze-Rated PSU that can supply 21A (252W) at the +12V rail. This means your system at 130W at +12V rail during full load would consume roughly 50% of the PSU's +12V rail - the highest efficiency in the subjective 80PLUS Rating system.

TL;DR
The Seasonic SS-300 TFX can handle your entire rig.
