Windows 7, kingston flash drive 16 G.
when my flash drive insert the computer show "you need to format the disk in drive J: before you can use it. Do you want to format it?" then when I select to format disk, it show "Windows can't format J Chek to see that the disk and drive are connected properly,make sure that the disk is not read-only,and then try again.For more information,search Help for read-only files and how to change them" How can format it? It's dead and I want to start using it again, Please help me it

Try opening control panel and going to "Create and format hard disk partitions" see if it shows up as an unformatted drive in there? Try it that way?

When you say 'USB Drive' do you mean a flash drive or external HDD via usb?
If you mean flash drive, then the usual culprit is component/hardware/electronic failure. Very common and near impossible to recover data.

Yes, it's flash drive and I don't want to recover data just I want to use my flash drive again, I can't open, use or transfer data to or from it, it's dead :-(
