I bought a used intel q9550 to upgrade my old socket 775 system. However after installing the new cpu, the system won't go past the windows flag screen.

System specs:
Intel DP35DP motherboard (listed compatible with the q9550)
4x2Gb Kingston DDR2 800mhz
Core2Duo e8400 (old cpu)
Stock cooler -> Cooler master
Antec earthwatts 500w PSU
8800GT GPU
Crucial BX100 240GB SSD

I have windows 10 installed on the ssd drive that I installed with the old cpu. I have tried to re-install windows, but the system refuses to read the usb-stick that has windows installation media on it. It does the same thing, gets stuck in the windows loading screen.

When I switch back to the old cpu both hard drive and the installation usb work normally.

I have updated BIOS to the latest available version, reset BIOS several times in different ways (cmos battery and jumper). Tried with 1 to 4 sticks of RAM. Ran with a stock cooler and a Cooler Master one. None of these actions gave different results. Only when I switch back to the old e8400, things run normally. I have reached the bottom of my toolbox.

Anyone had similar issues? And perhaps a solution?

Oh and the previous owner said that he removed the cpu from a working system with windows 7 on it. So the cpu should work.

No loading dots in any tries. A few times it had 'starting system repair' (or something along those lines) text, nothing happened on those tries either. So on most tries only the windows flag pops up.
The BIOS version is 572 yes. That was the latest I could find.

I can get into the bios yes. I have reset it several times with no luck. Everything seems normal up until I reach the windows logo where it freezes. Won't go past that with the ssd nor the usb-drive with the installation media. (With the old cpu both work fine).

Yes. Done it quite a few times now. At first, when making the switch, it might not post but when I reset bios it works again. Oh and also the q9550 every other time does not post at all, instead the screen remains blank and the cpu fan spins faster than normal, fixed by reseting power. That started after I updated bios to the latest version. I read somewhere in intel forums that there are some compatibility issues between the dp35dp mobo and the q9550 cpu. I'll try downgrading bios to an earlier version and see if that helps.
