Good Morning,

I just installed the 1080FE EVGA Upgrade Hybrid Kit.

It seems that there is a constant audible buzzing from the pump which I have read is "normal"? I can hear it sitting 3 feet away when the room is silent. This isn't so much an issue since there is always something playing in the background, but I was curious if it is normal or not?

Here is a picture of my install (not sure if the hoses curling upward could be causing it).

Solution
see like from that one link from evga with the guy and his SC card he brought that up on that but he don't have a reference style as yours so I would of thought it would be a non issue .

you see from my screen shot that cards vrm fan pretty much stays the same through out idle to max

see I'm thinking as he said about evga needs a hybrid use bios for kits used on non factory hybrid kit use cards .. the bios on your card is set to run the fans at a temp [low temps = low speed increased temps = increased speeds ]

sad part is how evga don't want to spell these things out or discuses them

like here they answer something like the grommets but when it something else technical there long gone ...

The hybrid cooler upgrades do not have a control speed option, it just runs full speed all the time. I left it on overnight and will see if it gets better in a day or two.

It's also not LOUD per se, it's more just an audible humming/buzzing low volume but noticeable when you are trying to make your PC as quiet as possible.

if no pump speed control i would have thought they should have set it to a reasonably low rpm as over a certain rpm theres very little or no gain

i have 2 pumps in my pc cant hear them from 1 foot away if they are at 1000rpm at 2000rpm can only just hear them at 3000rpm theres what you are hearing but not from 3 feet away only at 1 foot at 3 feet the air the fans move even turned down is louder than my pumps

theres some posts at evga forums as well on that .. my hybrid don't buzz, gurgle of have fan issues at all works a bit better then I expected and nice and quite [satisfied ] luck of the draw ????

looks like the way you got the radiator mounted the pump got to work hard to push the liquid around ??? don't look too efficient

Yea my H115i is set to "performance"/max mode all the time and I have never heard it even with my ear to the case.

I just posted some temps on that forum post and my EVGA Precision X. Seems like mine is getting super hot compared to most peoples. Is your fan exhausting or intaking?

may ned to go back over your mounting process like a cpu cooler there can be a bit more to it than just slapping one on .. theres a few things needed to be checked like is the gpu lid flat ? is the coolers cold plate flat ? too much / too little paste ? quality of paste used ? cooler mounted too loose or too tight ? tightened down crooked or un even ??..ect ....
any one of them overlooked or not as correct as you can be could be the difference in great cooling and operation ot not so ??? [opinion]

but anyway I see reports from guys like you and to be honest I cant say it ''normal'' and defiantly not as advertised by evga [more opinion]

may fan is how it is mounted as stock from evga back side of radiator pushing air through and out also I know any slight blockage will increase temps I got mine as open air as possible , matter of fact its not mounted at all so it can breath freely

I've had that card for well good year or so

the less work and resistance the cooler/ pump has to do the more efficient it should work. can you see how the way you mounted it how its got to fight its way up and around twice ??? [even more opinion] that's just how I see it

Another question for you, does your fan (the one on the GPU) ever rev uP? Mine keeps reving super loud every like 30seconds or randomly when I'm in game...even though it's set to a constant percentage in EVGA PRecision X...

In HWMonitor it shows a max of 120000 rpm lol

mine runs full time but you see from one of the links from evga forum theres a link in one of them where a guy asked that as a concern due to the cards having that -0- fan thing as they do

http://forums.evga.com/Evga-Gtx-1080-SC-Hybrid-Water-Cooler-m2609925.aspx

then like in the one link and now what you say here I guess the answer is NO it don't work as on a factory built hybrid card that runs at a constant stable speed full time [mine runs about 1000 rpm full time but I can set the speed +/ - with software ]

now it pretty proven that fan is still subject to the -0- fan profile from the original air cooler fan in its bios

anyway that's how its shaping up to me so far

''Unfortunately, the buzz appears to be normal and there are several other threads on the front page complaining of the same thing. '''

I get to wonder if these add on hybrid kits were units that did not test correct for use on factory assembled cards ??? [factory second units ]

kinda contradicts the as advertised 'virtually silent operation '' just plug and play .

heck that one guy in one of the links I gave above said it was louder then the game noises through the speakers he was playing ? how is that normal operation ??

only thing on in here is this computer and my hybrid aint noisy at all I like it better that any of my old air cards as far as that goes ??

personally if it was that way for me it would be gone back to evga and if you or anybody thought it was normal you or them would not be going around expressing these concerns over it , right ???

I bought a new one and will return this one when it gets here on Tuesday. Hope this one is perfect :D

ever take a look at the corsair solution ? there shroud and h55 . that h55 is still used on the MSI seahawk 10 series if the evga stuff just don't work out ??

just a thought one more thing to add . notice the hybrid coolers for the 900 series cards are long gone ??? not available anymore from evga ??? so if my 900 cards pump were to fail I guess I'm just S.O.L or going with a corsair unit to replace it .... hmmmmmm........

don't throw away that air cooler you pulled off that may come in handy down the road

Do you have a link to their shroud?

heck, just post back on how that new kit works out , I'm interested to know

thanks

I was looking at these ?/

from

and

https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/4q3iwv/watercooled_my_gtx_1080_using_a_kraken_g10_and/

then I guess you could mod the evga shroud to the h55 if needed in a pinch ??

Well....the buzzing is still there, so it seems like the "norm" though it's not as noticeable anymore. This one runs a little hotter or my apartment is warmish (thermometer is set to cool at 72 degrees but this room gets hotter than that. (right now idling it's 35 via HWmonitor with only Chrome windows open x.x). Havent tested the highs yet. Will shortly. My main issue is the hoses arent as maneuverable as well as the first set which allowed a better water flow.

I have EVGA Precision X setting the GPU blower to 60% constant (since I have that PWM hooked to the mobo instead of the standard one that comes with it and have tthat set to 50% or 1095RPM roughly)

Think ill grab another fan to do push/pull or switch it to intake since it must just be super hot in my case.

hmmm..... don't know ? thing is you se this a lot from guys using them kits not so much if at all from factory ready made cards ?

that's why I said I wonder if these ''kits'' are coolers that did not test out to be used on factory assembled cards ??? I have to turn off all my case fans and cpu fan to even hear mine and with that get on my hand and knees and put my head /ear right up to it . I have no noise issues at all from the pump or the cards fans ..

to be honest , I just don't know what to think or say on this ?? just sounds like I would not be too happy knowing how this hybrid card is behaving and quite

from my experience with my hybrid [980ti] card just done sound like ''normal'' to me [opinion]

http://imgur.com/BualSW7

maybe just something up with a pascal card and that's how it is with one ?

from these few reviews no one seems to bring it up with theres ?

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2F84VE8899

even the 1 and 3 star reviews ?? nothing on your like issues ??

https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Hybrid-Waterblock-Cooler-400-HY-5188-B1/product-reviews/B01IPVQUSG/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_hist_3?ie=UTF8&filterByStar=three_star&reviewerType=avp_only_reviews&pageNumber=1

where did you buy your kit's from ?? or theres something in how you assembled it causing this . just don't know ?
