So I had this dream build in mind, linked here. It was going to be a much-needed upgrade for me. If you check out my profile, I'm currently running an FX-6300 build with a 1060. Bleh. But then it occurred to me... why go for the new hardware that intel is offering when the old tick-tock model is out and there really aren't that many performance gains when going with Kaby Lake. So I am scrapping the old CPU and Motherboard for the X99 variety...
But what to choose? I REALLY like Asus and MSI, I'm a big fan of the ROG designs and don't mind shelling out extra money for aesthetics. When it comes to choosing looks over performance, though, I will always go with performance. I want the 6700k, that is known to me...But I need help deciding on a mobo.
Here are my needs:
- SLI capable
- 2 M.2 ports capable of 2280 length
- liquid cooling friendly
- rated well for overclocking
Here are my wants:
- aesthetically pleasing, rgb if possible
- flow and water cooling headers
- high quality "built in" sound card for high fidelity 7.1
