CPU Overclock crash

So recently I have overclocked my i7 4790K on the msi z97 GD65 to 4.5 ghz and my computer crashes once and then when I reboot with the same settings it doesn't crash again and I wanted to know why this happens.

It's probably unstable. Try reducing the overclock and seeing if it does it.

Try using programs like prime95(v26.6 or earlier) or CPUz to stress your oc.

Crash/BSOD suggests instability with those settings. Either decrease OC or increase voltage until stable. Adjust in small steps and test with prime95 on small FFT setting.
