Hi, looking for a second opinion.

Building a system tonight, fully built it, no POST beep, no display, fans spin. Sorry, don't have the mobo name, but is a 7100, with 8gb ddr4 something(sorry for vagueness)

removed all parts to the same result until I removed the RAM, once the RAM was removed, system beeps only part installed, CPU.

Tried each stick in each slot, and both in either, when ever any RAM is inserted no beep.

I don't have any spare DDR4 to test with, but am thinking of popping out in the morning and picking some up.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks.

the parts are at the owners house, the board and chip are compatible, i know kaby lake is new so i checked the compatibility list before ordering, just all ordering was done on the owners other PC, hence i don't have the details to hand.

I understand that you think you were both trying to help, but i find both of your answers entirely useless and feel perhaps you should have avoided attempting to contribute to this question.

Perhaps next time try approaching these situations like this:
Assuming the mobo and chip are compatible, I agree/disagree the issue is the ram, perhaps you should try x/y.

I find myself, feeling that it was a waste of time, using this forum, that has a good reputation in the tech community.

I'll check back later to see if any useful contributions have been offered, then perhaps i'll reassess my opinion of this forum, but by then i will have fixed the issue, even if i have to replace all the parts to get to the root of the issue.

Honestly, thank you for making an effort, even if your effort was misplaced.

Interesting reply. And kind of arrogant also, in my opinion.
Just for your information. If using a Kaby with Z170 or similar boards, even if compatible, the boards need a BIOS update for supporting it.
That's why we've asked about the model.
But it seems that some questions don't deserve an answer.
