Greetings! I was hoping the community could help me with a question about purchasing a new power supply for my sons build.

SPECS:

ASUS M2NPV-VM AM2 Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ CPU
4 Gigs DDR2 PC2-6400 RAM
MSI GTX 550TI 1 Gig version

We had an Antec Basiq 500W that came in this builds case go out on us, and we have a strict $40 budget to get the best PSU I can.

Now years ago I went cheap, I'm talking like $20 cheap on a power supply and I fried an Alienware board my friend sold me (Still crying) and I don't want to do the same to his rig.

We have Prime, so Amazon will be the place I will most likely be picking it up. Here's the 3 I have narrowed down to...

EVGA 450W Bronze = $39.30

EVGA 550N1 =$39.99

EVGA 500 White

I have heard very good things about EVGA PSU's, and have never had any issues with any EVGA card I've bough and all 3 fit out maximum budget.

Thank you all for your help.

Hi there PunkMcKunkle, the EVGA 450W Bronze will be more than enough to power your system plus the 10 year warranty from EVGA and at that price, I´ll go for that with no doubt.

Thank you! I appreciate your response. We plan to upgrade possibly to an AM3 build eventually (Doing everything a few generations back to save money) do you think this power supply would be good for an upgraded system down the line? We'd most likely always run only a single card, and I doubtI will ever be able to pony up for more than 8 gigs of ddr3 ramm.
