Hello!
I am looking for a portable (battery operated) router which supports 3G/4G sims for internet connectivity as well as it has a regular usb port to connect plugnplay 3g/4g usb modems. I came across TP Link 3040 router. It supports 3g/4g modems but does not have any option for 3g/4g sim.
So if any one knows about device which can support both sim as well as direct 3g/4g modem connectivity please reply. Thanks in anticipation

Your best bet is going to be cradlepoint. The major problem with this is the same as cell phones. It is extremely expensive to build a device that can operate on all the different radio frequencies that all providers use. Although LTE is fairly standard the other protocols can have small difference between providers.

It is not even possible to get a router that supports all USB modems. Even the same exact hardware will not work on all ISP. The ISP have different commands to log into their networks and so the driver is different even when they use the same modem.
