I've just done an Intel xtu benchmark, I'm averaging around the 800 mark, doesn't seem to matter if I'm running my CPU at the basic 4.0ghz or over clocked to 4.6, the results seem to be the same, the temp seems far too high for the CPU load and the CPU is jumping from 34% to 60, 20 then 90% - yet any gaming benchmarks, fine, Intel diagnosistics, no problems, Intel burn test, no problem, Aida64, no problem - even the xtu software, running a stress test, the temperature never really hits above 70ish°c - so the hardware must be working fine...
I had it over clocked to 4.7, and I've been running it like that happily for months, the only difference is the addition of a new MSI 1060 gtx 6gb - but if anything, most of the benchmarks went up and the CPU benchmarks and temps stayed the same... It was all running lovely until the other day and now this constant fluctuations doing my head in.
I thought it might have been damaged, leaving it rendering for a long time, but not longer than a day and it still seems to render fine.
But something's not happy. It's choppy, takes ages to load, it's almost unusable for ages and now the graphics card is saying power in the perfcap - psu maybe??
I've done what the chap suggested on the phone, disabled all the start up processes, no change. Run every windows diagnostic I can, run all the decent malware and virus programmes. Completely bewildered!
Any help would be much appreciated!
It's a 6700k, Asus Z170 pro gaming mobo, 24 gbs 2133 ram, 650 watt PSU, darkrock 3 cooler, 7 fans (maybe a bit of over kill there!) And the newest member the msi 1060 gtx 6gb graphics card, Samsung evo ssd, Toshiba HDD...
What's the best way to post a pic of the benchmark so I can show you?
Does it sound like physical damage or software? My system has been noticeably slower since, I discovered the problem trying to run PC Benchmark 8, and it kept on giving up half way through, which seemed odd!
