What graphics card do you have? If overclocking your CPU doesn't improve gaming performance, you're probably GPU-bound rather than CPU-bound.
You can probably overclock a fair bit more as well (4 GHz or higher)
Are you sure you've actually overclocked? Even at stock settings the 6402P will boost up to 3.4 GHz.
my ratio went from 28x to 35x and my gpu is gtx 960
How'd you get 3.4 GHz with a 35x multiplier? Unless you reduced the BCLK for some reason?
The 6402P is a locked CPU, which means the only way you can overclock it is via increasing the BCLK on certain Z170 mobos with specific (older) BIOSs. I'm still a little skeptical that you actually overclocked your CPU.
That being said, with a 960 you're very likely going to be GPU bound, not CPU-bound, so whether or not your CPU is overclocked probably won't make a huge difference.
