Hi all!
I just purchased the MSI Z270 Gaming 5 motherboard today. Got it home, opened the box, installed the proc, memory and proceeded to test for post. Everything went well with the test and away I went with the install.
Got it in the case cooler hooked up managed the cables and installed the GPU. During the post I set the memory profile. I hooked up the monitor and pushed the power button. Fans whirled on and lights lit up. Its alive!!! kind of :-(
As I sat watching the debug lights I noticed the monitor came on but no display only a black screen. Code 64 sat on the debug display and the GPU light was lit up on the debug lights on the side. I turned off the computer and restarted it. Same thing again. I shut it back off and noticed that the debug display on the bottom would not go off. It sat at 00. I turned off the power supply and it went off. turned it back on and 00 again. I decided to remove the gpu and as soon as I unplugged the display port cable the 00 went out. I removed the gpu and used the onboard graphics again. Everything went fine. got into bios and into windows. I reinstalled the gpu and as soon as I plugged in the display port cable the 00 popped back up. tried to boot but still no post same as before. I decided to try an hdmi cable and it works fine. computer booted right up. I tried the display port cable again and again no post. I decided to retry the old system thinking I might have damaged something in the switch. It fired up just fine on the display port. back to the new system and still no post. I have never come across anything like this before. Am I missing something? Any help would be appreciated. BTW I have tried different display port cables and I have plugged it in while the computer was already on using the hdmi. The computer thinks I have plugged in another monitor but works on the display port. This is so strange. Thanks in advance!

Yes I plugged the monitor into the GPU. I only used the on board graphics for testing purposes. I used the display port on the on board to make sure the cable was still good. I then turned off the system and moved the cable to the gpu. I restarted the system and it would not post if using the display port.

Yes and it is plugged in. Everything works fine if I use hdmi just not display port. I have since tried keeping monitor plugged in until about half way through the boot up process. as soon as the mouse and keyboard are activated I can plug in the display port and everything works fine. I can do a warm restart and it all works but f I turn it off and do a cold boot it stops again. 2 different monitors now and 3 different display port cables.
