[HELP] I upgraded to a Kaby Lake processor and my PC won't boot properly

So I recently got the new i5-7600K, put it into my system using Corsair's "grain of rice" method of using thermal paste, and my PC will turn on for 15 seconds or so without display, then reboot and stay on, but with no display. Specs are:
CPU: Intel i5-7600K 3.8 GHz LGA1151
PSU: Corsair RM1000i
RAM: GeIL Evo Potenza 8GB 2400MHz x2
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 750ti SC 2GB x2
Motherboard: ASRock Z170M PRO4S
I cleaned the processor and heat sink properly, checked for bent pins, reset CMOS, and BIOS is at its latest update (even though Intel has no requirement for it). I used the PC the same day on my older Skylake i3-6100 with no issue (other than it's an i3). Any suggestions?

Older chipset motherboards require a bios update for kabylake chips. z270 support them out of the box.

It could be a multitude of things but it sounds like your ram isn't seated properly . Additionally , try removing all but one dimm and seat it fully (this frequently requires more force than one might expect) and restart your pc. If that doesn't work remove it and try another slot , again fully seat the ram and restart again.

Another possibility is you didn't reconnect the fan power directly to the motherboard check it's connection next to the cpu.

Further details might help to diagnose the issue but sounds like your isn't seated .

I've reinstalled the old chip to try and find the new chipset BIOS, and the PC won't boot at all. No lights, no sound, just the mechanical "click" of the power button. Nothing even flashes on. This is turning out to be a much longer project than the 5 minute swap I thought it would be.

Did you seat the processor correctly? Bios update can be downloaded from here.

The processor will only seat one way, so it can't be improperly seated. It wouldn't boot after I cleared CMOS, I left it for a bit, and it booted when I came back. Could there be a short somewhere? I know 100% that there's no screw or bolt stuck under the mobo.

No, not all Z270 mobos support Kaby Lake CPU's out of the box.

There were 2 people in here about a week and 1/2 ago who had Z270 mobos.

Both of them didnt support Kaby Lake CPU's without a BIOS update

And it will need a BIOS update

This mobo needs BIOS 7.10 to support the 7600K. Which is the 2nd to last BIOS update
