I have a PC with a pentium e5400 and i also have a computer with core 2 duo e7500. Both of these processors have the same socket(lga 775) but when i switched my pentium with the 2duo i got beeping sounds on pressing the power button. When i put back the componets both the computers work fine. Please give a solution to this.

I would do a visual inspection of the board for full name/revision ot it

but Eton 1.0 board onbly supprts the following
* Core 2 Quad Q8400, Q8300, Q9450, Q9550 (Yorkfield core) (95W)
* Core 2 Duo E8500, E8400, E8300, E8200, E7200  (Dual Core) (Wolfdale core) (65W)
* Pentium E5300, E5400, E5700, E6300, E6500 Dual Core (Wolfdale core) (65W)
* Celeron Dual Core (Conroe core) (65W)

thus no E7500

Just because its the same socket doesnt mean it's compatible. There are many socket 775 boards that were compatible with the first gen of core 2 architecture but incompatible with the next generations. What is the make and model of the motherboard?
