Hi

My budget is around 20k INR..Main purpose after upgrade is gaming and casual web and videos. Want to upgrade from fx6100. Which is clicked at 4.2. Want to switch to Intel due to its more options in future. I narrowed to i3 7100. Plz suggest a good n cheap Mobo. Will buy 8 GB now if required later. Will this improve my performance ? And if I go to i5 will that be worth for my purpose.

Thank you.

6th gen costs less cause its a bit slower. It really depends on the price/performace and what you can afford. In addition you can buy any motherboard with lga1151 socket. If its an chipset you can just update the bios and it will be compatible with the 7th gen.

If you can afford this, go for it. You ll also have to update bios. If not go for the i3 7100

Sorry to miss that out. I recently upgraded to MSI GTX 1060. I feel my CPU would be bottlenecking , hence restricting me in fps.

Your graphics card is very solid and it is prolly bottlenecked by you cpu. The i3 7100 will be a very good cpu to pair with this gpu and will improve your performance. You ll be able to play any game @ 1080p with decent quality and high framerate. I dont think you need the i5. Just go for a 250b motherboard that has all the ports you need and you ll be good to go. Here are some suggestions:

MSI B250M PRO-VDH
ASRock B250M-HDV
Gigabyte GA-B250M-D2V

Thanks. What I want to know and understand is..Will i3 s performance in terms of multitasking and surfing - movies be less or higher compared to my current hexacore fx6100 4.2ghz. If not I may have to go to i5. Plz guide.
And I can't overclock i3 7100. Plz correct me if m wrong.
