I have a Gigabyte H77M-D3H release 1.1 motherboard running version F7 of the BIOS (7/20/2012).

I have been trying to install a brand new GTX 960 graphics card, but my PC (running Windows 10 Home) freezes at the BIOS screen with this installed (3 beeps and black screen, indicating graphics card not being recognised), and it was suggested that I should install upgraded firmware for the BIOS.

However, when I download the bios flash file (Windows 10, 64-bit) from the Gigabyte site (mb_bios_ga-h77m-d3h_f12) and unpack it, giving files Efiflash, H77MD3H.F12 and the batch file to run this, Windows 10 reports that the Efiflash application is not compatible with Windows 10.

Gigabyte said that it should be run from DOS, but I just get another error:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
E:\BIOS>Efiflash H77MD3H.F12
This version of E:\BIOS\Efiflash.exe is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information and then contact the software publisher.

E:\BIOS>
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I thought perhaps I could patch the BIOS from within it using the QFlash tool, however there is no way of navigating to the BIOS file on my drive, there is just a blank window. The instruction on doing this, furthermore, says:
"Make sure you have a functional floppy disk with the correct BIOS version for your motherboard."

FLOPPY DISK?? Who has a floppy disk in this day and age?

Gigabyte support have so far been absolutely useless. They are not even reading my messages properly and just keep fobbing me off with the link above.

I'd appreciate any help in getting this fixed. Specs below.

Thanks

Followed your instructions, BIOS updated to latest version, and GTX-960 installed without a hitch.

Thanks so much! :D
