Intel Core 2 Duo still good for internet, movies?

Solution
It's still usable but no faster than a 6.5w tablet or netbook while using 35w. It would be better with discrete graphics that can do some Hardware Acceleration to offload work from the CPU but even the IGP built-into the GM965 Express chipset can incredibly accelerate WebGL in Firefox (look in about:support) although not H.264 decoding in Flash so watching movies may get a little noisy.

It will struggle with Java-infested websites like Yahoo compared to more modern laptops.

It may work. Depends on what exactly you want to watch and your definition of good. I have a dell d830 with a core 2 duo 2ghz and 2gb ram with built in intel graphics and it works decent for movies and youtube. It studders occasiinaly when playing a 1080p mp4(but not bad) and youtube can be a tad laggy even with SD(My interner cant stream in hd). This is on Chalet Os(Xbuntu base) with no graphics drivers installed. Id say it should be fine as long as you dont want like 4k or 1080 always. Anyother questions just ask
