Budget cpu for RX 470

Solution
Yeah, try to squeeze a 4 core out of your budget, just for your own future proofing, whether it be Intel or a NEW AMD processor.

Otherwise, get the best dual core with hyperthreading you can afford.

Alternatively, wait 2 weeks to see what Ryzen brings to the table.

In all but the most single threaded titles, most of which are on ancient game engines, you'd probably benefit from 4 cores.

I'm pretty sure only enthusiast CPUs will be released next month. The budget CPUs will most likely be released a few months after the enthusiast CPUs. I would have recommended an FX-6000 series processor back in 2016 to pair with the RX 470, but I'm not sure now. Anyhow, if you needed the PC within like two weeks, go for the FX-6300 I guess. It's $90 and comes with Ashes of the Singularity. Also, don't bother with the 8GB RX 470.

What?

No.

Don't purchase an Fx-6300 in 2017. I'm a fan of the old FX line but no, just no.

We don't know any details on the release of the non-8 core cpu's yet so don't go making such a sweeping statement, they could be on sale the same day for all you or I know.

And what's wrong with the Rx 470 8gb?

At 1080p 4gb is just about enough these days, but anything above 1920x1080 i'd personally want 8gb, plus it is slightly more futureproofed. Yes the rx480 4gb technically has more horsepower for about the same price, so it comes down to resolution and memory usage.

i would buy a fx6300 just for fun and to have a nice toy, but ryzen cpus are almost here, that will change prices alot

the leaks seems to point half prices of intel and same performance, that means massive changes on prices and performance in both sides, no, a fx now, is a very bad idea

only viable under one circumstance, used and very cheap combo or cpu, ram and mainboard, something like 100 dollars for all 3 with 2x4gbs of ram, other than that, no, don't buy that old fx

if the budget doesn't allow for a i5 or you can't wait, the i3, is in general ideal for what you want

I used google translate, sorry if it doesn't make any sense..
