Hi
Im not sure this has been answered but I have machine that I need to upgrade the Q35 graphics card on. I am getting errors in Running stuff like open 2.0 GL and I know this card cant support it.
My computer specs are -
Intel Core (TM)2 Duo CPU E6550 @ 2.33 ghz
Ram is 4 GB
32 bit machine

thank you!

They do indeed run Minecraft PC which is not terribly demanding on graphics, but much more powerful older cards are available for around the same price, if your power supply has PCIe plugs for auxiliary power.

The GTX 750Ti is a great solution if you are willing to pay a little more; most do not need any additional power (only the models intended for overclocking need a 6-pin PCIe plug). It's actually as fast as the fastest DX10 cards from 2009 like the HD4870 or GTX 260 but uses less than half the power, and has DX11 + OpenGL 4.5

The new 1050Ti is the most powerful card that does not require extra power (except a couple of models do) and will still be usable in a new system, as it's more than twice as fast as the 750Ti and has...

You didn't say exactly what OpenGL 2.0 apps you are trying to run but that IGP does support OpenGL 2.1 in Linux (though only OpenGL 1.4 in Windows. Thanks Intel!).

For just web surfing use you probably want something that can do WebGL/WebGL2, and H.264 Hardware Acceleration of Flash to assist that poor CPU (if you have a weak CPU the 2 places you are most likely to see browsing performance issues are video playback and javascript). Note that Chrome seems to do hardware acceleration fine while Firefox seems to have blacklisted every video card there is, but Chrome easily uses double the RAM (normally limited to 2GB in a 32-bit OS)

If you aren't trying to do any gaming, really basic PCIe x16 cards like HD6450-HD7470 are only US$5 now at my local used computer store because they aren't any faster than the IGP built-into modern processors. I prefer them over similarly priced cards like the Geforce 210 which still cannot hybrid sleep in Windows 10-64 even with the latest driver that's only 2 months old (too bad, because the 210 has HDMI). It just never wakes up (+ my 260 Core 216 will BSOD less than a minute after waking so I only use hibernate for both). I should point out that either of these is as fast as the fastest card available in 2002 so will work fine in vintage games like Max Payne or Half Life.

Hi I should have mentioned that it is mine craft that my kids use that requires the opengl 2.0.
So that said, will those cards you mentioned solve that issue and work for that game?

hi I was also reading something about a gtx-750 ti - would this work or should I get something better, keeping in mind that I want to be able to run minecraft with Open Gl 2.0
