Hi all,

I am having an issue with my PC and can't figure out whats wrong.

Specs:
CPU: I5 2500k
MB: ASRock p67 Performance
GPU: EVGA 560 TI 448 cores
Ram: Kingston 8 gb DDR3
PSU: Corsair 750x
Monitor: BenQ XL2411
Windows 10

Symptoms:
1) When playing CSGO, the monitor goes blank and the whole screen is colored lime green. I can still hear the in game sound. Sometimes, the screen goes blank and i dont hear anything.
2) While watching Twitch, when i maximize the video player I get the same blank screen. The monitor shows "No signal" on bottom right.
3) Rarely, the PC will reboot itself no matter what i am doing. Even when browsing on Chrome
4) For points 1 and 2, i can hear that the system is on, the CPU fan is running. To fix the issue, i power down the pc and boot back up.

My thoughts and what i did:
1) I though it was a GPU issue (overheating). I took my case outside and cleaned thoroughly with compressed air.
2) I installed GPUZ and started logging temps. Started playing CSGO and 15 seconds into game play i got the blank screen. I turned off the PC and rebooted. Next, i checked the GPUZ log. Strangely, last temperature recorded was 43 degrees. However, six lines (6 seconds - approximately the time when i turned off the pc when the screen went blank) had no data as if the GPUZ program was running but the GPU was off.
3) I was in WOW log in screen and the GPU temp reached 85 degrees. At one point, the GPU fan monitor was showing 3000 rpm, but i did not hear the fan ramping up (not concrete here, it might be that the fan is very quite)
4) The PSU is almost 4 years old. The system has been running with no issues for the last 3 years.
5) Tried resetting CMOS, did not help.
6) Updated to latest Nvidia drivers. did not help
Thank you in advance and I can't wait to hear your solutions.

To be honest those cards were released in 2011. It might just be dated and old. It could be failing. I'd truly consider looking at a modern update, or you can get a budget used card, up to you. There's very wallet friendly options around that would outperform that card.

It might also be the PSU having issues, but I'd be leaning more towards the card. It's up to 6 years old.

Thank you for a quick reply. I have been considering getting a new card. I am not an expert on cards, but my local store has "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 (Factory-Refurbished) 4GB GDDR5 Video Card" for 250$. Is that a good deal? I am not concerned with the refurbished part. Should i be?

Also there is "ASUS GeForce GTX 1060 Overclocked Dual-Fan 6GB GDDR5" for the same price.

Get a 1060. First we need to check your system and make sure everything is compatible.

So your cpu is also a bit dated. You might consider a budget build upgrade. You'd see a drastic improvement in performance.

The problem is your CPU will bottleneck the performance of your card pretty bad. I can help you do a budget build if you want in a PM.

How do i do that? I am guessing i should be looking at the motherboard. It is ASRock P67 Performance Fatal1ty. PCI-express x16. Chipset Intel Sandy Bridge.

Budget build.

Please let me know. What parts i can keep and what i should replace. Thank you so much for your help!

You'd really need to consider your budget and if you do want to dump some money right now. If you change the Mobo the ram and cpu might not be compatible, so one thing will probably offset all the other parts.

The latest boards (z270), and even not so latest (z170) require ddr4 ram.
Most (for what you'd pay for) require a LGA 1151 socket cpu. Your psu might be dated but you'd need no more than 500w for a budget build.

Could you come up with a build so everything is compatible and see what the price would be. It looks like i will need new: CPU,mobo, ram, gpu. The psu seems fine for now, so its not a requirement to change that.

Also, my storage is samsung 850 256 gb. I got it around a year ago.

Alright, sorry it took so long.
The cost will be ~1000 to modernize.

The price tag includes options though, so picking the options you want will regulate the price to what it will be closer to.

I can try reducing prices on certain parts, but this computer is pretty modernized and future proof. You can downgrade the CPU to a 6 series i7 or i5 and it MAY be cheaper.

The GPU can be downgraded to a 1050ti with probably little loss in performance over your own current card for cheaper than a 1060. I chose a 1060 6gb vs a 3gb, for better performance. The 1050ti is probably lower than half the cost of the 1060 for a good brand.

The z270 asus board is an up to date modern Mobo that is 6/7 series compatable, and it's a very good board for it's price. It was actually my first choice of board for my build, but I wanted a few more features.

The PSU is a non-modular Seasonic, and seasonic is seen as a very reliable company.

The ram I gave you a choice between 2x4 and 2x8 ram. The 2x4 would give you a decent speed difference over your own ddr3 and still be at 8 gb. (You have to upgrade the ram regardless because ddr4 is the current standard). Don't pick both of those. Get the same kind, or get a 4 pack if you want to get more.

The cooler is a very well known and reliable brand.

I chose an i5 CPU for you because it is what you have, but chose a 7th gen, so it's the new kaby lake. It's a very good chip, for a decent price. The 6 series chips aren't really much of a difference.

You can choose to keep your current Hard Drive. I selected a small SSD you can use for your current games and to put your Operating System on for much higher performance. I also threw on a 1tb Mechanical drive that's pretty good, and can be used for storage.

All computers need an OS and I selected that one because you can now purchase flash drives that come with them pre-installed, but only give you the key to what you need. Get windows 10 64 bit home edition. You don't need pro.

Other suggestions can be made obviously, and opinions are to be had. These are not bad parts. If this is too high, you might just wait to get enough to budget out this computer.

This build does not include a case, any case components, software (Non OS), or peripherals. I assume you have all these. This is only internal tower components.
