Disable Onboard Graphics

I just installed a new motherboard, the ASUS Z270f Strix and I cannot find a way to use my GPU. I can't find anything in the BIOS that allows me to disable onboard graphics and it isn't disabled when I add my GPU. In fact, my GPU doesn't even show up in the BIOS at all. I know it works as I just swapped motherboards and used it shortly before installing the new one. Can someone tell me exactly how to disable the onboard graphics or is my board just faulty?

Ok. I'm with You ;)

On the Asus mobo in question with UEFI BIOS it is per default Auto, meaning that if a PCI-e card is mounted it will first try to use this, but as can be seen on the picture above from my Asus Z97 Deluxe mobo (which i forgot to link to before) it can also be set from auto to either IGX or PCIE or the option below to...

You don't need to disable your on board graphics driver but you could do that by going in device manager. Check your pci slots in your bios see if it shows anything.

I have checked. In all slots, it says no VGA card.

Yes. I have reseated it multiple times just to be sure.

"It doesn't matter whether the internal graphics (IGPU) is enabled or not.
The monitors will always work no matter what how you connect them

That my be your experience mate but it depends on the actual mobo.
On my 6-year old ASRock board, iGPU must be manually disabled in BIOS, otherwise PCIe GPU will not work.
So don't assume all boards and BIOS behave in the same way 'cos they don't.

On the ASUS STRIX Z270F GAMING BIOS Manual page 41

If this is the case I would recommend leave it enabled and in auto mode, because if something happens to the discrete PCI-e card, just unmount that and temporarily plug the monitors to the mobo connectors instead (perhaps via an DVI-HDMI/DP adapter).

Btw. Do you have the latest drivers installed? https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ROG-STRIX-Z270F-GAMING/HelpDesk_Download/

Thanks for all the info. This is by no means my first build but it is my first ASUS Mobo and I am just not fully aware of the features and everything. I do have all drivers installed (this is the first thing that I do). Everything seems to be working now, there are just a few things that are bothering me that I will have to make another thread for. Thanks again!
