Hello everyone, I wanted to check with you guys about my RAM timings on an Asrock 990FX Extreme 4 mobo + FX8320 CPU system. I got this http://www.corsair.com/en-us/vengeance-pro-series-16gb-2-x-8gb-ddr3-dram-2400mhz-c11-memory-kit-cmy16gx3m2a2400c11r RAM kit (CMY16GX3M2A2400C11R) recently and noticed it was working below the expected speed (CMOS clear was also involved) at just 1333MHz. I used the only XMP available in the bios just to find out my CPU can't support that speed and will fail at boot using the highest value of 2400MHz this kit can reach. I then tried finding a timings table for 2133MHz to no avail, so I used the XMP given again, but setting the DRAM speed manually to 2133MHz, which is somewhat working with no problems so far, CPU-Z is showing DRAM Frequency at 1064.3MHz and I haven't experienced any crashes, even though trying the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool just seemed to get stuck way too long at 21% for the extended test, the PC remained responsive but it wasn't acceptable (didn't progress any further even after 30mins). Still, the PC boots and seems to load Windows/work normally, yet I think the timing values could be better than the ones used for 2400MHz.
So my questions are: Do any of you know any custom timings and voltage set I could try? I've noticed some lag in certain operations and I suspect the RAM might not be working properly with the settings I currently have. And could trying a CPU OC actually help my case? even enabling to try 2400MHz again?.
P.S.: I'll eventually add some pics of the bios settings and the CPU-Z Memory and Speed tabs.
P.S.2: Got these exchanged for free with a friend that wanted my 2x4gb 1600MHz kit, if anyone was wondering why I didn't check the product beforehand, I just jumped at the upgrade opportunity.
