I already have 4gb 1333mhz DDR3 on my system. I would like to know what is the most effective upgrade that will increase performance. I'm playing DOTA 2 and GTA 5. I don't know if my current memory is enough or not since GTA 5 is playing smooth. So 2gb or 4gb memory upgrade?

mb foxconn g41mxe
cpu q9400
gpu gtx 560

please don't suggest gpu and cpu upgrade

Hi Exodias,

I am sure you could get away with 2, however, if you like multitasking or use multiple displays, 8GB total will be really nice! If you have the budget for it, I would recommend going for the extra 4GB.

Hope this helps!

Adding RAM isn't going to make an old Core2Quad game better. Save your money for the upgrade we aren't supposed to suggest. ;)

It may be difficult to find memory that will work with what you have now and you only have 2 DIMMs. You would need to buy an 8GB kit of 2 x 4GB modules of old DDR3 1333 or slower. Even then there's no guarantee newer DDR3 modules will work with that old board. That motherboard is from when DDR3 was brand new and it may have problems with newer modules.
