Thoughts on 2011-3 motherboards?

I just purchased myself a corsair 900D and am about to go ahead and upgrade a lot of other components in my machine. I was thinking of getting one of the 2011-3 motherboards, just because they look so good, (and aesthetics are important to me). I have been "out of the loop" in regards to the CPUs for these boards, so just wanted to know, would it be worth getting one of these? I would probably only be able to afford the 6800K if i do go with the 2011-3 socket board, and it has a significantly lower clock speed when compared to the 7700K.

Thanks for any inputs & if you need any more info on my situation, feel free to ask

Edit: the reason i was interested in one of these boards is because they are so much larger than the 1151s or 1150 & would look amazing in the 900D because currently there is so much room un-used

Are 2011 boards much larger? If they are ATX form factor they should be the same size as any ATX 1151 board, unless you get an extended ATX 2011 board.

Are you a gamer? If so in my opinion an X99 build would be a waste of money, for gaming the 7700k pulls ahead of a lot of X99 chips in many games due to high clock speeds and better single core performance. There isn't really any advantage to X99 when it comes to gaming. For a high end workstation X99 could be a good buy, but not for a gaming pc imo.

Personally I would pick my components then find a case that will suit them, not buy a case then find components to suit that case.

I do a lot of gaming but I also do a LOT of programming and a fair amount of photoshop work / getting into 3D designing. Are the extra cores worth it? and what kind of performance would it have compared to my current i5 4690K @ 4.2Ghz?

Edit: the 2011-3 boards are E-ATX, where the 1151s are just ATX
