I have the EVGA 04g-p4-2686-kr which is a GTX 680. My question is: How do I provide enough power to the card if I only have two 6-pin connectors from the power supply? (Btw I'm trying to get this to work in a mac pro). Here's the specs sheet from EVGA: http://www.evga.com/Products/Specs/GPU.aspx?pn=11c142ec-09fb-40ae-aa9a-bf3945681c4f

It says that it requires "38 Amp on the +12 volt rail" and I don't know what that means. However, could I just use a 6-to-8 pin adapter since the TDP for the card is only 195 watts and two 6 pins should be more than enough?

Your Mac pro does not have a good enough power supply to handle a 680 or really any other GPU in that matter. The only thing I could see working is getting a 1050 Ti in that thing, Which would actually probably be pretty difficult, From looking at the shape of the thing. But I don't expect that to have a efficient enough power supply to handle or even support that GPU.

This website sells gpus for mac pros and says that the 680 should be fine with the mac pro's power supply. So back to my original question, assuming that the power supply is good enough, would I be able to make it work using a 6-to-8 pin adapter plugged into the 8-pin connector on the gpu and then just a 6-pin for the 6-pin connector on the gpu?
