Ram not being recognized

I have 4 sticks a 1GB RAM in my computer, however, only 3GB is being recognized as being there, any quick fixes?

I didn't ask about the memory, I asked about the version of Windows and if it shows 32-bit or 64-bit. If it shows 32-bit then you won't have to bother going into the BIOS because you will have your answer.

I have done this before and it only shows 3GB
