Is my CPU bottlenecking my PC

I am hopefully upgrading soon to the ryzen (if it's good) but is my current cpu bottle necking my PC. I can't even use 3D Mark as it just gets stuck on the loading screen and brings my CPU to 100%.

PC Specs:
-AMD A6-5400K
-NVIDIA geforce gtx 750ti
-16GB Ballistic Sport
-2 X SSD = 360GB

Your GPU is currently what i'd consider minimum specs for 1080p gaming, it's 2 tiers below the Rx460 now which gets 30fps and up in games, but you can survive on the 750ti on lower settings until you can get an upgrade.

You should be able to get a Ryzen 4 core and an overclockable motherboard for around the $200 USD mark, if prices are correct and shops don't inflate too much. DDR4 is currently expensive, unfortunately, i'm hoping that drops very soon.

Compared to your A6 Ryzen will be good, you can be assured of that. But yes, wait for benchmarks and make your decisions from there.

That said 3d mark should be able to run.

Make sure you have the drivers up to date, and the newest 3d mark, and make sure you're running the low-mid end test (forgotten which one that was to be honest)

I'd say it's more than likely. Your APU is the weak spot there. Ryzen promises to be on par, at the least, with Intel's offerings. Be aware though that Ryzen will use the AM4 socket and DDR4, so you will be looking at almost a full upgrade to go with it. (You can reuse the GPU and SSD's should you need/want)

As for 3D Mark, it sounds like it's just too much for the CPU as initiated. As Crumpet said, make sure everything is up to date and use the proper settings for the test.

AMD's CEO made it clear that they don't intend to undercut Intel on pricing when the performance is on par. They need to make better margins on their products. This was when she was talking about Ryzen and Vega.

However, they will more than likely have CPU's at several pricing tiers and just about all of them should outperform the APU you currently have. Same thing with motherboards, there will be a range of pricing depending on features and form factors. When the time comes, you will just need to find what is in your budget.

It is a good thing you already have your SSD's. The NAND shortage is causing prices to rise and if the articles are right, it could be at least a year before things normalize.
