sound quiet on maximum volume

my computer is on the maximum volume setting but is still very quiet with headphones or speakers plunged in. please help. i am running on windows 10.

in windows sound panel is audio on mute?? on the back or front of the case are you in the right audio port and is the port turned on in the audio control panel. check to see if hdmi or speakers are set as default audio output.
