Your laptop is extremely old, at this point i'd just consider getting a new laptop.
The max amount of time to keep a laptop is 4 years imo, they get outdated fast and can't keep up with modern software unless they're a high end model.
No point in paying to upgrade an outdated PC, you won't see any additional performance with that CPU either, as the CPU is the problem in terms of performance issues, not the RAM.
