Update:
I removed all RAM sticks one at a time. When down to 1 8Gb stick, GPU worked (thru HDMI). Then replaced other 3 back for 32Gb, GPU still working.

No DVI or HDMI on the Godlike MB.

Hi all
First time here.. just finished a build (2nd one, last time was 5 years ago). Plugged in, turned on.. fans running, 1070 lights up, MB lights are good. Plugged monitor into DVI on the GPU, no input signal.
I ran 2 power cables to the GPU, PCI 6+2 and a cable that is 8 on both ends, labeled 'cpu' but I didn't need that. Could that be wrong?
Are there any other connections needed to do for the GPU? It's just plugged into the MB (MSI godlike gaming x).
Otherwise, how to trouble shoot this? Is there a DVI on the MB?
Thanks

You need to use the cables marked as 6+2 pcie cable for the gpu

the cpu cable 4+4 is for the motherboard. and you 100% need to connect it
