I recently created a static IP so that I could forward some ports for a game. For the first couple hours everything was okay and then I started seeing massive dips in my internet's speed. I then ran a speed test and the results were along the lines of 62 ms/1mb download/1 mb upload.
I was searching for solutions online and when I came across this, I thought it would fix things, but it only made matters worse. I entered [netsh interface ipv4 set address "Local Area connection" static ...] into my command prompt without really knowing what it does.
I panicked and switched back to my normal dynamic IP and things went back to normal: around 7 ms/50mb download/10mb upload. I forwarded ports fora video game called For Honor to get an open NAT type as opposed to a moderate NAT type.
I'm wondering what I can do to set up my static IP properly so that it maintains the same internet speed and ping as when I don't use the static IP.
I appreciate any help!
