GPU no signal. Computer spontaneously shutting off/back on.

Hello,
I've recently started losing signal to my monitors. Initially restarting my computer would fix it. After a few times of doing that it took re-seating my GPU to fix it. Now it's not working at all. I am currently connected directly to my motherboard. In addition to that my computer has been randomly turning off and then back on so I'm not sure if it's a GPU problem or not. The only upgrade I've made to my computer is 8gb to 16gb of ram. That was about a month ago. I don't remember this ever happening before that. However, I ran memtest and there were no errors. My computer hasn't shut down since I've been connected to the motherboard (so far.) I have reset my bios to factory settings. There doesn't seem to be any updates for me to install. I plan on picking up a PSU tester today or tomorrow but other than that I am not really sure where to go from here. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.

GPU: R9 390 - 1 yr old
CPU: i5-2500k - 5 yrs old
PSU: corsair 750w -5 yrs old
mobo: asus p8z68-v gen3 -5 yrs old
ram:16gb corsair vengeance - month old

power supplies degrade over time

your gpu is very power hungry, so it further added wear and tear

do you have another psu to test with?

I don't have another one to test unfortunately. I was also thinking that maybe power supply was not able to keep up with it especially since it's old. I don't see why a GPU problem would cause the computer to shut down. I just didn't want to go buying parts before I'm certain what's going on.

that is exactly what would happen if a psu could not keep up, gpu demands power psu cant cope > shut down/blue screen/drivers crash

there could be other causes as well though

do you monitor cpu temps?

you can also test the psu by running a gpu benchmark, run valley does it restart?

Well since I'm hooked up to my motherboard my computer is showing Intel HD graphics 3000 as my GPU. I still have my R9 installed but my screens are black if I plug into it. The fans aren't even running on it. I'm not sure if that's normal or not when I'm not gaming.

So I was just able to run Valley with my GPU. I let it run for 10-15 minutes and no restart. I had MSI afterburner running on my other monitor and temperate never exceeded 70 degrees celsius . I'm not too surprised it didn't shut down during that time period. Sometimes I can game for a couple hours before it happens. Still feeling like I need a new PSU.
