The background - So I am planning on upgrading my Dell T3500 to a true gaming rig. It currently contains a Xeon W3670 and 12GB of RAM which is quite good, but the GPU is only a Sapphire R7 250.

The issue - I plan to upgrade the GPU to a Gigabyte GTX 1060 6GB, however the standard power supply in the T3500 only has one 6 pin and the 1060 needs an 8 pin. There are 6 pin models but I didn't want to limit the GPU with less power.

The question - does anyone know of a power supply that fits in a T3500 case that has an 8 pin (and preferably another 6 or 8 pin) power connector?

Solution
Both 6-pin and 8-pin utilize three 12-volt wires, and contrary to popular belief, unless it is a really cheap adapter with small gauge wires, they are fine. Many cards ship with one from the manufacturer.

Been running an adapter in my Dell T3500 to power a MSI rx480 gaming X for some time. A far more power hungry card than the 1060. Additionally, know of several people running 1060 in their T3500 with same adapter.

If you do decide to get another PSU be aware your Dell motherboard does in fact have 24-pin header and 8-pin CPU connector. Which should pose no problem.
From everything I see mate yes.
If in doubt check that your board has a standard 24 pin main & 8 pin atx connection & measure the PSU dimensions.

Sole discrepancy I see is that the dell board& PSU both carry fairly heavy 3.3/5v ampage.

A DC-DC unit like the corsair will fulfill those requirements.

For a factory fit solution, I recommend getting a T5500 power supply and wiring harness.(about $60 on ebay)
The T5500 has an 875w power supply and two 6 pin plugs for the video cards a single 4 pin Molex and two 8 pins for the two cpu's.
The T3500 has one of the 8 pin plugs connecting to the motherboard at the bottom corner, between the big fan and the cpu.
The T5500 uses the second 8 pin to power the second cpu cage assembly.
The worst part about these models is the 8 pin wire runs under the motherboard, so you have to lift it up to remove and/or replace the wires.

Also, all of the wiring connects to the P.S. with one big square plug.
The T3500 and the T5500 do not use all of the same connections.
By that I mean you can't just buy a T5500 wiring harness and plug it into a T3500 P.S., some of the wires will not have a connections, (I tried)

As others have said it is perfectly acceptable to buy either a Molex to 6 pin adapter or a 6 pin to 2x-6 pin splitter.

But Dell MB's CPU 8 Pin Connector is very long way from PSU .......... the length of 8 Pin CPU connector in case of aftermarket PSU may fall short.
