I have tried multiple forums, and tried multiple solutions but it doesn;t work.
CS was working completely fine on my Dell laptop. After a new windows update yesterday which took about 30 minutes, I can't play CS anymore. The update updated my GUI (made it a bit better looking, apart from that, no changes). The problem is that when I press 'play' CS, the application launches (I can see it in the task manager) and the screen blacks out for about a second. Then nothing happens. The application is also not visible on the task bar.
Some things that might be helpful:
My CPU is 64 bit.
I disabled firewall.
I already uninstalled the windows update (it did not change my GUI back).
I have done 2 clean re-installs of both Steam and CS.
