I'm very new to building so been doing as much research on my own to figure out what parts are best for what I'm trying to build.

Basically, looking to build a light-med gaming pc that works heavy on media center server kind of thing. Plex, streaming, downloading, media storage, etc.

Games to play would be overwatch, LoL, Life is strange (kind of games, telltale walking dead sort), bioshock, sims 4 (play on ultra settings would be nice).

I use my computer 50 hours/week on average (used for work, school, fun). Don't do any kind of editing but would like the option to upgrade to photoshop, eventually. I went on PCPartPick and created a parts list that I thought would suit my needs. I'm probably not going to go heavy on gaming in the future as I'm a lighter gamer kind of gal, haha! Don't think i'm looking to overclock if I don't have to.

My parts list: build list
Budget: $600-$1000
If anyone has any suggestions for cheaper parts that still do a great job and will run smooth operation for what I want my build to do, would be awesome! There are a lot of options and parts out there, and did my best to see what would be good for my build and wants.

Right now I'm working with a dell inspiron desktop:
core i3-4150 3.5ghz
Intel hd graphics 4400
dell 300w psu (model no: l300nm-01)
8gb ram
windows 10 64-bit
Basically a pre-built model bought form best buy on black friday, haha!

I recently bought the evga gtx 750ti sc to at least upgrade with the PC i'm working with now so that I can at least enjoy playing the games I want to without lag, at high-ish graphics and fps. I'm planning on buying the rest of the parts one at a time. I did some research and think that my gtx 750ti sc will work fine with the psu and cpu i have, for now. The one I bought doesn't require a 6pin and will just suck the power straight from the slot which hopefully means I won't have to upgrade my psu at the same buying my gtx gpu.

Right now, I'm trying to see if there is a good motherboard with good sound, handle light-medium gaming at least high standards with a breeze, handle being turned on everyday running for several hours, accommodate at least 4 sata connectors (will eventually want to expand my internal HDD space). User-friendly bios would be nice.

I listed the MSI Z97-Gaming 5 as my motherboard choice on my list, but think it might be overkill for what I want. Tried to search for a motherboard that would be good for light-med gaming, media center type but still don't know what I should be looking for.

Anyone who can make suggestions to a good motherboard (or any of the parts on my list that you think would be a better choice) would be great!
