Hi guys,

I'm planning on building a HTPC that also does the job as a NAS or server so I can access & copy, paste all the files there (Having an external backup).

The type of files being played will be of all kinds, the most demanding would be 4K/HDR HEVC 10 bit BT.2020 files, nothing above that. Most files will be 1080p/4K HEVC files, HDR is ocasional but it's still required specially now that more content is being available.

So I'm going to use the Pentium Kabylake G4560 + Asrock B150M Pro4S motherboard + 8GB DDR4 RAM. I'll also use a Sharkoon SilentStorm SFX 450W 80 Plus Bronze power supply and a Noctua NHL9i cooler. I'm stuck on two things right now:

-Software to use, I've heard Windows Server & Linux are very good for this, the idea will be just to access the files when required from the network my i7 4790K pc (GTX 1070) and my laptop + my Oppo UDP-203 + my Zappiti 4K HDR. So I just want the feature of being a NAS/Server + HTPC. I'm not going to use FreeNAS or ZFS I have a very small budget for the system, about 350$/€ with out Hard Drives (I'll be adding 2 8TB Seagate IronWolf NAS making a total of 16TB)
I don't care about data loss if I have to spend more on ECC RAM etc etc, I already have 2 external Backups accross multiple devices.

-Case: I'm very stuck here..don't know what to buy I was hoping some help here. Requirements for the case will be: Small if possible, I don't want it to fill my whole rack as there's very little space left, but I don't want it to be so small that nothing fits there or ends up in overheating problems. Control remote would also be nice for turning on and opening the tray, and at least 8 3,5" bays or something that fits 8 HDDs. Of course..USB 3.0. I already have a Blu-ray drive and SSD laying around. I'll also add a GTX 1050 in the future for HDMI Bistream audio to my Dolby Atmos/DTS:X Setup. My budget for the case is 80-100 $/€.

Thanks!
