What happens to windows and if i reinstall windows on the new motherboard will it wipe mu hard drive? What do i need to do to stop that.

Just do a recovery install, you wont loss anything and you can just delete that "old Windows" folder later. Win 10 isn't like previous versions that required you to do a full reinstall and loss all programs data too.

That is not a given.
Often, you do have to do a full reinstall, even with Win 10.
It is better than previous versions, but nowhere near 100% guaranteed.

I have literally done this over 200 times now and have never had a issue. Recover and Update work the same as far as driver replacement goes for Win 10, if it's not 100% it must be pretty close to it I have yet to see any performance issues.
