Ok so i built a machine with dual xeons about 3 weeks ago and its using dual e5640 xeons on a supermicro x8dtl3-f motherboard with 24gb of 1333mhz ecc ram paired with a gtx 1060 6gb.

Itll play a whole bunch of other games including GTA V and Ark and such but it wont get anything above 5 fps(on even the lowest settings) on far cry 4 which really confuses me.

If anyone understands how this can be fixed or can be improved in any way that would be great.

What did you expect? xeon is not meant for gaming, I imagine the far cry 4 engine wasn't built for it, especially if its a dual cpu. Maybe try going into task manager after opening the game, going on affinity and unticking some of the threads. Aside from that I have no idea what could cause such low fps.

Yea im confused at the fact that one cpu works better than 2 in far cry but any other game i have works perfectly with the dual xeons although i might pull one out and see how far cry works with 1 in there

Hi, I'm late but anyway, I have this baord and I am suffering a problem. When I installed the second CPU, my cpu fans goes at full speed and no post when I turn the system on. I wanted to ask Richez how did you get your second CPU to work?

you may have a faulty board or you didn't hook up the second 8 pin cpu power, or there may be a jumper you might need to switch look up the manual if u need to, it could also be a faulty cpu if u didn't try the second one in cpu socket 1. I had no problems like that with my board I have a fan controller for the fans so the fans don't ramp up and the system is pretty quiet and stays cool other than the ram which likes to get hot and then I have to ramp the fans up

Nice but i had that same problem with the standoff but i removed it before even coming close to booting the system:)
What cpus are u using x5670's? I was thinking of going that route but it wasnt in my budget and so i went with e5640s which im still running today :) my system is still going strong and im very happy with it but its a weird system sometimes like ram overheating and such but i just turn up my fans and then its fine for whatever im doing!
