Hi,
I just bought some new components (Asus Z270E, i7 7700k, 32GB G.Skill Trident Z 3200 CL14, Asus Strix 1070) as an upgrate to my 10 years old beasty PC. I'm still using the same case and PSU though...
Now, my PSU is the Corsair HX620, which proved to be an amazing and powerful PSU but with the 1070 requirements for an 8pin direct connection I realized my PSU doesn't have one, it only has 2 6pin PCI-E cables.
I saw there are a lot of PCI-E adapters from 6pin to 8pin and I was wondering if it is safe to use them? I'm afraid it will burn out or something and shorten my entire system...
I know my PSU can handle the 1070 power wise as Corsair had a 6pin to 6+2 cable for the old HX series a few years back, but I can't find one today. All I can find is some cheap $5 cables on Amazon/eBay etc.
So, is it safe to use these cables or should I go out and buy a new PSU?
Thanks guys!
